Rockwall Rallies for 22-Straight Points to Down Melissa 46-41
Trailing by 11 points early in the third quarter, Rockwall found another gear and never looked back, closing out Melissa 46-41 in a high-scoring showdown that came down to a late defensive stand and a decisive scoring burst.
Melissa quarterback Turner Wilkie was the story through three quarters, finishing with five touchdowns on the night — two of them on the ground — and connecting with Wyatt Harry three times for scores. The Cardinals pushed their lead to 35-24 and looked in control heading into the second half.
Rockwall quarterback Collins Jones kept the Yellow Jackets in it, throwing for 342 yards and finding Cannon Johnson for one of his two touchdowns. After Jones connected with Gederius Epps to pull within 35-30, the Rockwall defense took over. Yoshua Sanders delivered a big hit, and the Jackets forced back-to-back punts to swing the momentum.
Alijha Deloache then put the game away with a 15-yard scoring run, capping a 22-point run that turned a deficit into a final margin of 46-41. Rockwall finished with 550 total yards on the night.
The victory earned Rockwall the Texas Oncology Team of the Week.
