It took overtime and 93 combined points to settle it, but Prosper left North Forney with a 50-43 road win Friday night behind one of the more complete quarterback performances of the young season.
Tyler Albert was the story for the Eagles, finishing with 349 passing yards and six touchdown passes — a night that included a highlight-reel rushing score in the red zone where he made two defenders miss before crossing the goal line to push the lead to 21-7 in the second quarter.
North Forney refused to let it get away. Down 14-0 early, Cordai Woodard gave the Falcons life with a 70-yard burst up the middle to make it a one-score game after the first quarter. The Falcons kept answering throughout, with David Akinola finding Jaxson Fort in the back of the end zone — Fort hauling in the catch with a defender draped all over him — to pull North Forney within 27-21.
But every time the Falcons closed the gap, Albert had an answer. He used a pump fake to sell a bubble screen, freezing two defenders and leaving Elliott Brown wide open for a touchdown. Before halftime, Albert connected with Marcus McCoy on a tough catch for six to push the lead back to 34-21 heading into the break.
The back-and-forth continued deep into the fourth quarter before Prosper finally secured the win in overtime. For North Forney, the loss stings despite a gutsy effort — the Falcons showed they can score in bunches and won't go quietly in district play.
