Prestonwood Lions vs. John Paul II Cardinals - 2013 Basktball - Week 9
July 21, 2018
Julius Randle's broken foot healed just in time to help lead Plano Prestonwood to the TAPPS state semifinals as the Lions took on John Paul II... even Kansas coach Bill Self had to get a look at this one... Jason Martin was hot early for the Cardinals as he drains a 3 and John Paul would have an 11-5 lead in the first, but that's when Randle took over, first he muscles his way to the tin for the tough layup... Then in the second quarter he shows off the jumper... hitting jumpers and three pointers from all over the perimter... showing why he's a five-star prospect... Randle had 23 points in the first half alone! But Prestonwood needed every one of them because the Cardinals were tough - Chandler Malone buries a three from the corner here... Prestonwood was clinging to a 28-24 lead at the break... Third quarter - check out the footwork by Randle, as he somehow slips by his man and gets the layup... 6 point lead for Prestonwood... But John Paul kept the pressure on all night... this three by Malone in the fourth tied the game at 39! he had a team high 15 But if coffee is for closers, Julius Randle could have had an entire Starbucks Friday night... the jumper was as pure as it could possibly be... He contributed on defense as well with this ferocious swat... Then toward the end... Randle all the way to the basket AND ONE... give him 40!!! Prestonwood wins 55-48... they will meet Fort Worth Nolan today for the state title...
