Capacity crowd at Richardson Berkner to see Rowlett take on Plano East. The Panthers lost to Rowlett earlier in the year, but Coach Jeff Clarkson certainly put together the right gameplan last night. The Panthers found their way into the paint all night. Jarvis Pugh goes baseline and then does the jumpstep to set up a floater. East up 3 after a quarter. 2nd quarter, the Eagles Nathan Hawkins steps back and connects on the long ball, but that's about when the tide turned in this one. East outscored Rowlett 24-9 in the quarter. Pat Birt dribbles into the lane and scores on the lefty floater. Then, on the break Marcus Mathieu with the bounce pass to Birt who puts in another lefty lay-up. Birt with 23 points and Plano East up 35-17 at the break. Rowlett couldn't muster any kind of offensive rhythm. Jeffrey Carroll scores here and he's fouled. He finished with 12 points but that was 11 less then his average. On the run again, Birt to Trey Patterson who gets it inside to Sawyer Kipp. 5th ranked Plano East steamrolls Rowlett 79-46 in a laugher. They will face Richardson in the next round.
