Newman Smith Lady Trojans vs. Highland Park Lady Scots (Girls) - 2013 Basketball - Week 2

Kaitlyn Read averages just over 15 points for the Highland Park Lady Scots as they took on Newman Smith for first place in District 10-4A. First half, Read uses the pick nicely, as she spots up for the 3 ball. 18 points for the senior. Newman Smith wanted that top spot in district bad and came out like gangbusters. Dasia Johnson dribbles in to 3 defenders in the paint and still scores. 16-14 Lady Trojans after 1. 2nd quarter, they work it inside Alexis Nezianya (Nez-e-anya) for the bucket in the lane. She scored 12 points and Newman Smith extended their lead to 5. Highland Park on the break and Read attracts the triple team so she does a nice bounce pass to Caroline Roberts for the layup. But Newman Smith would pull away. Johnson with the 3 from the corner that rattles around and goes in. 19 points for her and the Lady Trojans are alone in first place with the 59-49 win.
