Midlothian Heritage Dominates Joshua 42-0 Behind Zion Johnson's Big Night

After three straight losses to open the season, the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars finally broke through — and they did it in convincing fashion, shutting out the Joshua Owls 42-0 on the road Friday night.

Heritage wasted no time establishing the tone. On their first possession, quarterback Brayden Newman found Zion Johnson on a swing pass, and Johnson did the rest — breaking tackles and showing the speed that would define his night, giving the Jaguars an early 7-0 lead. Newman went right back to the same play on the next drive, and Johnson delivered the same result, pushing the lead to 14-0.

The Jaguars then turned to the ground game to keep the Joshua defense off balance. Running back Riley Norton slammed his way into the end zone for a physical touchdown, and Johnson added another score on a handoff, wiggling through the line to extend the Heritage advantage.

The play of the night came when Newman looked downfield for Jaymes Bell, who snatched the ball out of the air with one hand and dragged defenders all the way to the end zone — a standout individual effort that highlighted just how complete Heritage's performance was.

The final score of 42-0 gave Midlothian Heritage their first win of the 2026 season, while Joshua dropped to 3-1.
