Mesquite vs North Mesquite 2024 | Rivalry Game with Playoff Implications

Since 1970, when Mesquite and North Mesquite line up against each other, the stakes always feel elevated. This year, they were even higher — both programs needed a win to strengthen their playoff positioning.

The Mesquite Skeeters drew first blood when quarterback Caleb Rhodes broke contain and punched it in from 6 yards out. A successful two-point conversion put Mesquite up 8-0. North Mesquite answered immediately, as Terrance Collins burst through the line and went untouched for a 61-yard touchdown run. The Stallions also converted their two-point try, knotting the score at 8-8.

Rhodes continued to be a dual threat in the second quarter, turning a broken passing play into a 35-yard scramble to set up a Mesquite score that briefly tied the game at 15. But North Mesquite quarterback Bryston Palacios took over from there, punching in two quarterback sneaks before halftime to swing momentum decisively toward the Stallions.

North Mesquite controlled the second half and pulled away for a 36-21 win, handing Mesquite a setback in what remains one of the most consistent rivalries in the eastern DFW corridor.
