Mesquite Skeeters vs. South Garland Colonels - 2013 Basketball - Week 8

At Lake Highlands, South Garland took on Mesquite and their 2 sport star Alex Cooper. First quarter, Cooper hears Jay Wilson begging for the ball, so he passes it to him and Wilson takes advantage of his good positioning underneath for the score. The Colonels Tadarrius Millner takes it up court and when Aaron Johnson fails at his attempt to pick Millner's pocket, the senior is left open for the 3-ball which he drains. 3 sec left in the quarter, Skeeters trying for last shot, but Wilson's pass is intercepted by Millner at mid court who tosses it up to LaJohn Martin and he gets the 3 off before the buzzer. SPLASH. South Garland up 11-8 after 1. 2nd quarter, Martin takes the ball coast to coast by himself and scores plus gets hacked in the act. Martin led all scorers with 18 points. Skeeters Rashard Higgins with the shot of the night. Jamarquez Scott passes it to him on the baseline and Higgins goes up and under for the reverse layup. Very Jordan-esque with the hang time. And remember when the Colonels stole the ball and beat the buzzer to end the 1st quarter? Well Skeeters get their revenge to end the 2nd, as Martin mishandles the dribble and then throws it away. A.J. Johnson gets it to Scott who's layup beats the buzzer. Mesquite goes on to win this one 58-47
