Mesquite Horn at Rockwall-Heath - 2022 Week 9 DFW High School Football Highlights
Rockwall-Heath hosted Mesquite Horn -- the winner would likely lock up 2nd place in district 10-6A.
The Hawks scored less than a minute into the game on a touchdown pass from Caleb Hoover to Peyton Wingfield, 44 yards for the score, but this became a very defensive game for the next 40 minutes.
Heath managed to score again in the 2nd quarter, when Jack Davenport ran in from 9 yards out, and they led 14-6 at halftime.
It was still that score midway through the 4th quarter, until Horn quarterback JT Thomas scored to make it 14-12; Horn missed the 2-point try.
They got the ball back with under two minutes to go.... and Thomas connected with Chris Dawn on a 69-yard touchdown pass to put the Jaguars in front for the first time; it was 18-14.
Heath still had a chance to win with a touchdown, and they tried a double pass, but the Jags saw it coming. Armstrong Nnodim grabbed it and went 45 yards to seal the win, 25-14. For their efforts, Horn earns our defensive title belt this week.
