NIGEL SMITH and the Melissa Cardinals were in Mesquite Thursday to play the Poteet Pirates.
Poteet got the ball first and turned it over. Melissa turned it into points when NATHAN ADEJOKUN scored his first touchdown, and it was 7-0 Cardinals.
The Pirates installed a new offense in their bye week. They ran the ball every play in the first quarter, except this one. JOSH HOBBS to DAVION HALL ... it was 14-10 Melissa in the 1st quarter.
Melissa started to pull away in the 2nd quarter, and it started when KARSON MAYNARD *pulled in* this pass from TREVER HAM. Great catch by Maynard, and it was 21-10 Melissa.
NATHAN ADEJOKUN scored the 2nd of his 3 touchdowns, and Melissa rolled to the win, 42-10 over Poteet.
