Mckinney's Matt Gadek BROKE the UIL State Single Game Rushing Record in 2017
10/29/19
This week’s 25th Anniversary Flashback takes us back to October 20th, 2017, when a 5-10, 175 pound McKinney running back by the name of Matt Gadek broke a UIL 11 man state record by rushing for 599 yards in one game. Gadek had touchdown runs of 1, 3, 4, 30, 36, and 69 yards as he helped the Lions defeat Plano east 63-50. For the game, Gadek carried the ball 49 times for 599 yards including this 15 yarder to break the record of 587 yards previously held by Somerville’s Daryl Ellis back in 1998. Gadek would finish the season with 2,268 yards rushing and lead McKinney to the post season, but on one Thursday night, Gadek would have the game of a lifetime.
