Lancaster Holds Off Mansfield Summit in District 8-5A DI Opener

A 61-yard pick-6 in the second quarter threatened to derail Lancaster's District 8-5A Division I opener, but the Tigers answered with enough composure to walk away with a 21-7 win over Mansfield Summit.

Lancaster led 7-0 early before Mansfield Summit's Tyson Comeaux-Watts read a Joseph Hairston pass perfectly, jumping the route and taking it to the house to tie the game at seven. It was the kind of momentum swing that can unravel a team in a district opener — but Hairston didn't let it.

With Summit flagged for a false start and a free play on the board, Hairston took advantage, hitting Caleb Johnson on a 10-yard dart to push Lancaster back in front 14-7 heading into halftime.
