Lake Dallas Dominates Alvarado 51-28 in Top-Ranked 4A-D1 Showdown
Two teams entered this one with legitimate claims to the top spot in DFW's Class 4A-Division I rankings — Alvarado as the preseason favorite, Lake Dallas as the current No. 1. By the final whistle, the Falcons had made their case emphatically, rolling to a 51-28 road win.
Lake Dallas quarterback Bode McDaniel was the story of the first half. He hit Adrian Reynolds on a slant to put the Falcons on the board first, then floated a touchdown pass to Ben Cornist — the first of two scoring grabs for Cornist before halftime. By the time McDaniel connected with Reynolds again just before the break, Lake Dallas had built a commanding lead and McDaniel had put together one of the cleaner halves of football you'll see at the 4A level.
Alvarado did show some life in the second quarter. Quarterback K.J. Jenkins uncorked a deep ball to Kenneth Lomack, who hauled it in at the fingertips for a 45-yard touchdown to make it 31-14 — a reminder that the Indians have the weapons to stay in games at this level.
It wasn't enough. Lake Dallas closed it out 51-28, moving to 5-2 on the season and firmly holding the top ranking in DFW's 4A-D1 class.
