Keller vs Keller Central: Playoff Hopes on the Line in Crosstown Rivalry
Playoff positioning turned a crosstown rivalry into must-win territory, as Keller and Keller Central met with both programs needing a victory to keep their postseason hopes alive.
Keller Central struck first. Isaiah Taylor, a defensive back who also lines up at quarterback, used his legs to find the end zone and give the Chargers an early 7-0 advantage. Taylor's dual-threat ability proved to be a consistent problem for the Indians throughout the night.
Keller answered through the air. Quarterback Matt McCroskey delivered a precise throw to sophomore James Foltynski, a big catch that set up a Keller score and pulled the Indians even. McCroskey kept his foot on the gas, later hitting Chris Hanson over the middle for a touchdown that gave Keller a 14-10 lead.
But Central and Taylor weren't finished. The Chargers' signal-caller found Ericia Makaya, who flew into the end zone to reclaim the lead for Keller Central. With both teams fighting for the same playoff lifeline, every possession carried weight in a game that lived up to its rivalry billing.
