Keller Rallies from 14 Down to Stay Undefeated with 49-42 Win Over Byron Nelson
Fifty points a game is a standard Keller has set for itself this season, and Thursday night's district showdown with Byron Nelson tested whether that offense could deliver under pressure. It could — but not without a fight.
The Indians fell behind early, then found themselves staring at a 14-point second-half deficit before their offense took over. Bryce Fontenot got things going with a 3-yard touchdown run to answer Byron Nelson's opening score and tie the game at 7. The back-and-forth continued right up to halftime, when Mustangs quarterback Ben Odom connected with Nolan Hawkins in the corner of the end zone to knot the score at 21.
Keller quarterback Matt McRoskey had another strong night through the air, extending one play long enough for Graham Kaler to haul in a one-handed catch and take it to the house. When the deficit swelled to 14 in the second half, it was David Makia who answered — taking a carry 30 yards to the end zone as part of the Indians' decisive rally.
Keller survived the scare, 49-42, and heads into the next week of the schedule with an unblemished record intact.
