Keller Central Stuns Allen on Last-Second TD to Win State Title Belt

Nobody gave Keller Central much of a chance to get out of pool play. The Chargers had other ideas — and Isaiah Taylor made sure of it.

Taylor was the engine on both sides of the ball throughout the championship game against Allen. He connected with Gavin Smith on a pump-and-go to put Central up 14-7 before halftime, then watched Allen's Jaden Davis haul in a Ty Snell pass to tie it at 14 at the break.

In the second half, Taylor stepped in front of a goal-line throw to record an interception that killed an Allen scoring drive, then came right back on offense and found Makaya out of the backfield to push Central back in front, 20-14.

Allen answered when Derek Phillips broke free in the corner of the end zone to give the Eagles a 21-20 lead in the final minutes. The Allen defense came up with a stop, and players stormed the field thinking they had won — but a flag for early celebration gave Central an untimed down.

Taylor made them pay. He found Smith alone in the end zone for the walk-off score, capping what had been a dominant weekend run. Central won 26-21 and took home the state title belt on a five-game heater.
