Julius Randle, Prestonwood Christian Academy Lions - Hot Prospect - 2013

Over in Plano, the Prestonwood Lions were primed for what should’ve been another championship season. And then….the injury bug showed it’s ugly head. Sophomore sensation, Mickey Mitchell tore his a-c-l during the football season and then, Julius Randle, the nation’s best senior, fractured his foot which prematurely ended his season. For Randle, it’s been a difficult blow to handle, but he vows to be back better then before. A specator….that’s what the country’s best high school basketball player has been forced to become after fracturing his foot in the second game of the year. And just like that, Julius Randle’s season was essentially over. Now, as he continues to rehab on his own, Julius realizes the injury may have been a blessing in disguise. And when Julius is playing, boy is he a sight to see. The 6’9, 240 pounder is a nightmare for opposing defenses. He can breakdown taller defenders off the dribble and abuse smaller defenders in the post. Randle is a scoring machine as he averaged 21 points last year including a 50-burger he put up against Fort Worth Nolan. And that doesn’t even mention the assault he puts on the rim on a nightly basis. Randle is so good, most experts project him as a lottery pick in the 2014 N-B-A draft. Julius grew up idolizing Kobe Bryant and now he may be 2 short years from playing on the same court as the N-B-A icon. It’s something he tries to block out of his mind. Julius has narrowed his college choices to 6 schools. Texas, N.C. State, Oklahoma, Kansas, Kentucky and Florida. He hopes to make a decision this spring.
