Walnut Grove is a new Prosper ISD high school and they played their first home game against Gunter.
That's a tough assignment right there, and Gunter jumped up 22-10 in the 2nd quarter when Walker Overman found Mitchell Gage for a 35 yard score.
But Walnut Grove played tough. Nice pass by Lleyton Burghardt to Blake Miller who he hits in stride. That's a 50 yard touchdown and the Wildcats cut it to a 5 point deficit.
But the defending 3A Division 2 state champs were too much. opening drive of the 3rd quarter, Overman on the keeper and he's gone.....63 yard touchdown as Gunter beats Walnut Grove 64-24.
