In 2002, the Kimball Knights were on their way to what they thought would be their 4th state basketball title. After a back and forth first half, Coach Royce “Snoop”Johnson’s Knights would take a 7 point lead after 3 thanks to this block by Jason Rabb and dunk on the other end by Alexander Starr. 4th quarter, Rabb with thunderous dunk to help Kimball cling to the lead. Up 53-51 with 5 seconds left, Kimball would miss the front end of the one and one. The ball falls into the hands of San Antonio Jay’s Chris Ross, who was 0 for 12 for the game. Ross runs into his own player, but still heaves a half court shot. It was good!!!! Jay wins 54-53 and sends Kimball home in heartbreaking fashion in one of the greatest endings we’ve ever covered.
