February 18, 2020
From 2000-2002, The Colony had one of the best backcourts around. Deron Williams and Bracey Wright led the Cougars to the 2001 State Tournament and went on to have successful professional careers. We learn more in this week's Flashback.

We’ve talked a lot about the 2002 basketball class on Inside High School Sports. With Chris Bosh and Lamarcus Aldridge leading the way, 2002 may have been our best hoops class in the past 25 years. Besides the big men of that class, The Colony sported one of the most dynamic backcourts North Texas has ever seen. Deron Williams and Bracey Wright led the cougars to the Texas 4A State Final four in 2001. Williams was the playmaking guard who averaged 17 points and 8 assists that state semifinal year. Wright was the spot up shooter that was as consistent as they come. Bracey Wright played a couple years with Minnesota before going on to a successful career overseas where he is still playing after 13 years. Deron Williams was picked 3rd overall in the NBA draft in 2005 and finished up a successful pro career in 2017. However, in 2001, The Colony connection lead the cougars to a 29-2 record and was one of the best backcourts around.
