Duncanville Panthers vs. DeSoto Eagles - 2013 Basketball - Week 2

July 21, 2018
Always a huge crowd on hand when Duncanville takes on DeSoto. Especially since the Eagles lone loss of the season came at the hands of the Panthers. Danny Henderson, who coached Flower Mound Marcus to back to back championships, is now at Duncanville and has them ranked 10th in the state. First quarter, the Panthers went right at DeSoto. Omar Sherman inside with the baby hook over the Eagles 2 biggest defenders. Then, Sherman shovels it to D J Wallace who takes it straight to the rack for the deuce. For DeSoto, Tavares Royal spots up for the long distance dedication as he hoped to spark the Eagle offense. Then Matt Jones picks the pocket of Jeremy Grace and goes all the way to the rack for one of the few field goals he would make on the night. The Duke commit was shut down on the evening. That opened up some chances for Duncanville. Wallace throws the lob to Grace who puts it in off the backboard. This one would go back and forth. How about this play. The smallest man on the court, Chris Ortiz, gets the offensive board for DeSoto, throws up some junk and it goes in plus the foul. 28-19 lead for the Eagles at the half. Duncanville stormed back. Sherman with the top of the key jumper and this game went to not one but 2 overtimes. Terry Maston hits a big jumper just inside the arc and DeSoto holds on to the 62-58 victory.
