In a historic match, the DeSoto Eagles, coached by Claude Mathis, finally secured a win against Longview with a convincing 60-28 scoreline. This was DeSoto's first victory over Longview after five previous attempts fell short. The game opened strongly for DeSoto, with quarterback Legend Howell scoring an initial touchdown by running 15 yards into the endzone. Ja'Quaylon Silas also contributed significantly, rushing for 132 yards and scoring two touchdowns.
