DeSoto Edges Duncanville 21-20 in Roland Parrish Classic at the Cotton Bowl

Triple-digit temperatures at the Cotton Bowl made hydration a priority Saturday afternoon — and the game itself was just as intense. DeSoto and Duncanville met in the Roland Parrish Classic, a marquee early-season matchup between two of the Dallas area's most prominent programs, and it came down to the final seconds of the first half.

DeSoto's coaching staff made a notable adjustment, lining up Sarod Baker at quarterback to get him more touches. The move paid off immediately. Baker broke outside for a 24-yard keeper in the first quarter to put the Eagles up 7-0. Duncanville answered when Brayden Arnold took a wildcat snap on fourth down and punched it in from 11 yards out, knotting the score at 7 after one quarter.

The Eagles regained control in the second quarter on a big run by Wyatt Davis, who broke through arm tackles and found open space, taking a handoff 65 yards down to the six-yard line. DeSoto converted that drive to go up 14-7. Then, with just nine seconds left in the half, Baker found the end zone for his third touchdown of the game — an eight-yarder that proved to be the difference.

DeSoto won the Roland Parrish Classic 21-20, with Duncanville pulling within one but unable to complete the comeback in the second half.
