Denton Ryan used a suffocating defense to win the district championship in 5-5A Division I, defeating Lone Star by a final of 7-6.
Lone Star on the move in the 3rd quarter but Garret Rangel's pass is underthrown and Jaylon Braxton makes the pick to keep the game at 7-3.
4th quarter, Rangers down 7-6 and driving. The workhorse on the night was Ashton Jeanty who ran for 227 yards. . On carry number 34 on the night, Jeanty picks up 21 yards and Lone Star is is in field goal territory to win it with just over 2 to play.
But on carry number 35, Anthony Hill Junior strips the ball from Jeanty and then falls on it. That's how it would end. Ryan beats Lone Star 7-6.
