Denton Guyer Head Coach, John Walsh, knew he had a solid team coming into 2019, but to make sure they were battle tested, he stacked his non conference schedule. It worked. The Wildcats got big wins over state champion Aledo on the road, and Cedar Hill at the Cotton Bowl. That gave his team the confidence to go through the regular season with just one loss to conference foe, Southlake Carroll. From there, the Guyer ground game went to work and they reeled off 10 straight wins including a miraculous 27 point second half comeback over Cedar Hill. An unexpected injury to quarterback Eli Stowers in the state final stifled the Wildcats chance at a title, but for his efforts, John Walsh is our Givemethevin.com Coach of the Year.
