Celina Stays Undefeated, Holds Off Frisco Emerson 17-14 in District 4-5A-DII Thriller

October 7, 2026
Celina survives a late sack fumble scare and stops Frisco Emerson on 4th-and-2 to stay undefeated in District 4-5A Division II, 17-14.

Undefeated records have a way of making late-game moments feel bigger, and Celina had to earn every bit of this one. The Bobcats held off one-loss Frisco Emerson 17-14 in a District 4-5A Division II battle that came down to a fourth-down stop in the final minutes.

Emerson took a 14-10 lead into the fourth quarter after Andrew Adame connected with Jason Wooden for a go-ahead touchdown pass. Celina answered when Zane Lacrue found Walker Gibbs on a 14-yard scoring strike, putting the Bobcats back on top 17-14.

With Celina trying to run out the clock on a third-down conversion, Dave Taffo stripped the ball loose for a sack fumble, and Chase Cummins recovered it — giving the Mavericks one last chance. Emerson opted to go for the win on fourth-and-2 rather than attempt a tying field goal, but the Celina defense held firm. The Bobcats remain undefeated in district play.
