Brock Eagles vs. Ponder Lions - 2013 Basketball - Week 4

In 2-A, last year's state finalist, Brock, visited Ponder for an always physical game and, I tell you what, they start 'em out young at Brock....look at this li'l guy looking like a young J Kidd As for the game, 9th ranked Ponder came out on fire, Kade Copp drives the lane and connects on a floater that just gets over his defenders outstretched arm. Brock goes inside to Harris Jowell for the hook shot that bounces around and drops through the net. Close game thru a quarter. the Lions went on a run in the 2nd quarter behind Clay Morgan who was almost unstoppable Tuesday night. Here Morgan goes baseline with the finger roll and is fouled. Ponder looking good at the half up 26-12. 2nd half, and the Lions aren't stupid. They know when to go the hot hand and Morgan was certainly hot on this night. Finished the night with 24 points. Eagles star player Lance Ewell (you'll) was hampered with foul trouble all night, but managed to hit this jumper in the lane and get hacked. Ewell with 13 poitns. Morgan showing he can dish as well, as he finds Josh Peterson inside on the mismatch. That's good for 2 points and Ponder was up 39-29 after 3. 4th quarter, Bailey Cockburn tried to keep Brock alive with the 3 ball. He hit a couple in the 4th to finish with 13 points. But Ponder would pull away from the district leaders, Brady Anderson for 3 of his 14 points. Ponder took down the state's 2nd ranked team 59-43.
