J-P 2 dominated time of possession in the first quarter but couldn't score. Webster Walls recovered this fumble, and it was scoreless after 1 quarter.

But on the first play of the 2nd quarter, Cooper Alfred threw deep, and Ethan Morrison was all by himself downfield -- a 65-yard touchdown catch to give the Friars a 7-0 lead.

Late in the 2nd quarter, JP2 had to punt on consecutive possessions ... and twice in a row, Bishop Lynch muffed the return.

So with only 12 seconds left before halftime ... AJ Sibley got the handoff and scored for the Cardinals. But the Friars would go on to win this game, 28-16.
