Berkner Rams vs. Westfield Mustangs - 2013 Basketball - Week 9

We move to Waco now for a 5A Division II Regional semi-final where Baylor head coach Scott Drew was on hand looking for some talent and he didn't have to look far as Berkner's Soma Edu was putting on a show, check out the hangtime! The Rams were matched up with Spring Westfield and their outstanding senior guard James Harrison. Early on Westfield would get an easy bucket in transition as Harrison sneaks out ahead of the Berkner defense for an easy layup. But this game would come down to who could execute better in the half-court set. Berkner with some good ball movement here ends up in an easy layup for sophomore guard Torrey Everett. Westfield would counter against Berkner's 2-3 zone with Harrison doing damage again, this time with a 3 pointer, the Mustangs still trailed by 7 at halftime. But in the 2nd half the momentum would shift in a big time way as they go on a 17-2 run, Deion Sidney finishes this fast break. Berkner would regain control with Keenan Evans breaking down the defense and dishing to Robert Johnson for the flush! This one wouldn't be decided until overtime. Berkner's Josh Francis would come up with a huge steal in the backcourt and extend the Rams lead to 4. Westfield unable to convert on offense trying to force a steal but the Rams break the pressure and Soma Edu ends Westfield's season with the dunk and Berkner survives a wild one 64-58 in OT.
