A Martin win, and the Warriors would be district champions. If Bowie won, the Vols would share the district title with Martin and Lamar.
Martin led 21-7 at halftime, but Bowie began the second half with a big kickoff return. JALEN CURVIN brought this one back 50 yards, all the way to Martin's 35 yard line, and a few plays later, Bowie cashed in with a touchdown.
But on the ensuing kickoff, Martin's special teams had an even better kickoff return. LEONARD LEMONS would take this one 68 yards for a score, for a 28-13 lead. The special teams also scored on a fumbled snap late in the game.
Bowie quarterback DREVVON PONDER scored three plays later, keeping on the read option and going 64 yards to the end zone. That one play covered just about half of his 129 rushing yards, and it was 28-19.
But Martin would pull away to win 44-19 and clinch sole possession of the district title.
