Arlington Bowie Volunteers vs Richland Rebels - 2013 Basketball - Week 8

02/23/13

Bowie is led by sharpshooter Jeremy Senglin and he would be on point Tuesday night, but maybe not as on point as Richland's Hayden Hunter was with these fresh dance moves. You still got it, Hayden. But it's not just dancing that Hayden can do, he can also knock down that 3 ball as he did here in the first quarter. The Volunteers would show some Basketball 101. First, Malcolm Hughes goes to the rack and knows 2 points are good, but if you can draw the contact and score, you can get the old fashioned 3. Then William Anthony breaks out the fundamentally-sound pump fake...gets his defender to fall for it and hits the mid range jumper. The Rebels had a distinct height advantage and they would go to it all night. Malik Mayfield throws it high for Leyton Hammonds who makes the easy layup. Then Hunter goes baseline and kicks it to Hammonds for the 2 handed stuff. Hammonds a monster night. 34 points and 17 boards. But one person who wasn't afraid of Richland's big guys was Senglin who shows no fear going in amongst the trees and scoring. And the Volunteers would end the half with a bang. Davide Chavlovich left all alone in the corner for 3 with 20 seconds left. Finally, with 8 seconds left, Senglin is wide open for 3 of his 27 points. Bowie takes down Richland 76-70 to advance.
