Allen vs. Prosper: Breaking Down UIL 6A District 6 Heading Into 2026

North Crowley's departure to region two quietly reshuffled the power structure in UIL 6A District 6, and according to analyst Matt Diggs, it hands Allen the clearest path to a region one Division One title the program has had in years.

The Eagles return significant offensive talent, headlined by sophomore quarterback Ty Snell, who drew Kyler Murray comparisons after cycling in as a freshman last season. Snell holds an Ohio State offer and brings both size and speed to the position. Running back Indian Springs is also back after a strong junior campaign. The concern for Allen, Diggs notes, is up front — the offensive line is talented and deep, but may not be equipped to handle a Duncanville-caliber defensive front. That question gets answered early: Allen opens the season against Duncanville, the same team that eliminated them in last year's playoffs.

Prosper, meanwhile, enters 2026 in unfamiliar territory. Gone is senior quarterback Brandon, who had one of the strongest individual seasons a signal-caller in the district has seen in recent memory. Tyler Albert is expected to take over after a solid showing in the seven-on-seven circuit, but the offensive line — once stocked with five Division I prospects — no longer carries that same pedigree. Diggs points to roster growth at Prosper Richland and Walnut Grove as a sign that the area's school expansion is beginning to dilute Prosper's talent pool. Tight end Elliot Brown and wide receiver Marcus McCoy give the Eagles weapons, but Diggs projects Prosper to slide from elite to very good this season.

Walnut Grove makes its 6A debut with its own quarterback uncertainty after Heinz Hackney transferred to Argyle. Wide receiver Hayden Cooley topped 1,000 yards last season and returns with strong offers, while DJ Henderson at linebacker draws Micah Parsons-style versatility comparisons — capable of playing edge or off the ball. Coach Tommy Allison, a former district coach of the year, is expected to have the Wolves ready to compete. Diggs projects them as a playoff team.

Rock Hill enters the conversation behind an offensive line anchored by Bumgardner, with JP Livingstone expected at quarterback and skill pieces in Joseph Kony and the Krug brothers. Jesuit, after a rocky start that turned into a strong playoff run last season, is projected to be a factor but not a frontrunner.
