Allen Eagles Hold Off Southlake Carroll 56-35 to Move to 3-0

Two of the most decorated programs in Texas high school football met Friday night, and it took a second-half surge from Allen to settle the matter. The Eagles, entering the game at 2-0, traveled to Southlake Carroll and found themselves in a fight before pulling away for a 56-35 victory.

Carroll quarterback Hudson Tomcheck got the Dragons moving early, connecting with Blake Gunter on a 69-yard touchdown strike to open the scoring. Tomcheck added a second touchdown pass — a 17-yarder to Cole Cunningham on a play-action fake — to push Southlake to a 14-0 lead. Among those watching from the stands was former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, whose son suits up for the Dragons.

Allen answered through the legs of Jrue Simmons. The running back punched in a 4-yard score to get the Eagles on the board, then broke loose on an 83-yard touchdown run to knot the game at 14. Simmons finished with 151 yards on the ground.

The pivotal moment came just before halftime. Ty Snell, flushed left out of the pocket, found Zach Williams open in the end zone — a back-breaking score that gave Allen the lead heading into the break and shifted the momentum for good. Snell finished the night completing passes for 305 yards and three touchdowns as the Eagles rolled to a 56-35 final and a 3-0 start to the season.
