Aledo Pulls Away from Arlington in Big 3-6A Matchup | 42-28 Final
For about 30 seconds, it looked like Arlington might have an answer. Then Aledo took over.
The Bearcats opened the District 3-6A road game at Maverick Stadium with a statement on the very first snap — Wyatt Dorsey took the handoff, waited for his moment, and burst through for a 50-yard touchdown run to put Aledo up 7-0. Arlington responded quickly, with Canon Cambron connecting with Jackson Nelson on a 56-yard scoring strike to even the score at 7-7.
That's where the parity ended. Eli Pinnick found Maddox Nurse on a pass in the flats, and Nurse turned it into a touchdown to push Aledo back in front at 14-7. The Bearcats continued to pour it on, with Tre Williams stepping in at quarterback and hitting a diving Cade Nussbaum for another short score as part of a dominant stretch that pushed the lead to 42-7.
Arlington made the final score more respectable, but Aledo held on for the 42-28 victory — a significant district win for a Bearcat program that has long been one of the most decorated in Texas high school football.
