Highland Park and Manvel played one of the greatest state title games ever in 2017. The Scots would prevail 53-49, but not without some craziness. In today's Flashback we take a look back at the 5A Division 1 state final of 2017.
Signing Day was this week and E J Smith had all the attention. As our North Texas Honda Dealers Inside Story found out, being the son of Hall of Famer, Emmitt Smith, being the center of attention comes with the job.
Kaedric Cobbs has simply had an incredible 2019 senior season. Starting with a 220 yard performance opening night on the road against Aledo and continuing throughout the next 14 games. When Head Coach John Walsh needed to pick up a crucial first down or milk the clock, Cobbs strong legs did the job. He has almost 2500 yards rushing this year and 42 touchdowns. Every time he gets the ball, heads turn, which makes him our Givemethevin.com Showstopper of the year.
This week's Plays of the Week highlights the best plays from the state semifinal games including plays from Denton Ryan, Duncanville and Denton Guyer.
Aledo uses a 220 yard day from Jase McClellan and a MVP performance from Jake Bishop to win their state record 9th championship. The win makes them our Geico Team of the Week!
The 5A Division 1 State title ends in heartbreak for Denton Ryan as they lose 28-22 to Shadow Creek.
A hobbled Jase McClellan still ran for 220 yards and 2 touchdowns and offensive MVP Jake Bishop led Aledo to their 9th state championship. That's a Texas state record. They beat Fort Bend Marshall 45-42 in the 5A Division 2 state championship.
